ROLL Project Organization of environmental trials and Bed&Breakfast&Excursion network in Primorskiy kray.Coordinator: Svetlana Lazovskaya, the Vzmorye United Rehabilitation Spa Centers' Fund, Vladivostok

The Vzmorye United Rehabilitation Spa Centers’ Fund is directing a large part of it activities to preparing for the forthcoming summer season. Thanks to the ROLL Program, the project covered 10 raions of Primorsky Krai with 300 families becoming owners of small private hotels. The Fund put together a detailed database of offered services in which each inn is thoroughly described (type of location and building, the exact number and quality of services, photos of the owners, presence of pets, etc.) According to the Fund’s estimation, next summer the local B&B&E network will be able to accommodate 13,500 guests; and one family will be earning an average of 56,000 rubles, which is, however not a limit. For example, last summer a B&B&E from Slavyanka Settlement made over 130,000 rubles.

On December 26, 2003, the Committee for Tourism at the Primorsky Krai Administration named the Fund’s project of organizing a B&B&E network the “Best Investment Project of the Year” and recommended the Federal Employment Service to take this experience into account. In 2004, the FES will provide funds from the state budget to train residents in 4 other raions of Primorsky Krai in the hotel business. Thus, the efforts of the Vzmorye Fund will be directed toward developing the business activity of the local population,

At present, the Fund is offering a new service - “New Year's in a Village” - that is quite popular: 30 applications for 500 guests have already been received. However, the Fund became aware that the B&B&E network in mountain and forest areas, which many corporate clients would like to visit, is less developed than that of the coastal areas and has less hotel space that is required. This circumstance has determined a new area in the work of the Fund.

A brochure that was recently put out by the Fund and devoted to the services of the B&B&E network will be distributed in Primorsky and Khabarovsk krais and on Sakhalin. Two publications about the project appeared in the popular local magazine The Call of the Taiga.

Activities of the project once supported by the ROLL Program are being actively continued.
